Duty of Care Requirements Associated with Evidence-Based Practice in Nursing

by on 15.02.2022 in

The ACE Star Knowledge Transformation Model identifies barriers to putting evidence into practice and identifies EBP-based solutions. The model explains how different phases of knowledge transformation reduce the volume of scientific literature and provide forms of knowledge that can be directly involved in maintenance and decision-making. The ACE Star model focuses on the crucial steps to transform one form of knowledge into the next and integrate the best research results with clinical expertise and patient preferences to achieve EBP SO. The model shown in Figure 1 is a five-point star that defines the following forms of knowledge: discovery of point 1, which represents primary research studies; Item 2 Summary of Evidence, which is the synthesis of all available findings compiled into a single harmonic statement, such as.B. a systematic review; Item 3 Translation into action, often referred to as evidence-based guidelines for clinical practice that combine the evidence base and expertise to expand recommendations; Item 4 Integration into practice is evidence in action, where practice is aligned to reflect the best evidence; and the Point 5 Assessment, which is a comprehensive review of the impact of evidence-based practice on patient health outcomes; satisfaction; effectiveness and efficiency of care; and health policy. End-user acceptance, implementation and institutionalization is the final step in the knowledge transfer process.37 This phase aims to engage organizations, teams, and individuals to consistently adopt and leverage evidence-based research and innovation in everyday practice. Once EBP change is integrated into the structure of the organization, change is no longer seen as an innovation, but as a standard of care.22, 37 Applying scientific knowledge to your nursing practice helps them ensure safe, high-quality care – and improves outcomes for patients, your workplace, and your own career. If you are studying to become a nurse, you can expect to learn how to evaluate research, make informed decisions, and provide the best possible care. At St. Augustine`s University for Health Sciences, courses in our two graduate nursing programs – the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) – are dedicated to the evidence-based practice process. 3. An up-to-date conceptual framework to maximize and accelerate the transfer of research results from the Health Research and Quality Agency`s (AHRQ) research portfolio to health care was developed by the Dissemination Subcommittee of the AHRQ Patient Safety Research Coordinating Committee.37 This model is a synthesis of the concepts of scientific information on knowledge transfer, Social, Social and Social Marketing and Organizational Innovation and Behaviour Change (see Figure 1).37 Although the framework is presented as a series of steps, the authors of this framework do not believe that the process of knowledge transfer is linear; On the contrary, the activities take place simultaneously or in different sequences, the implementation of EBPs being a multifaceted process with many actors and systems.

Brownson, R.C., Colditz, G.A., & Proctor, E.K. (2012). Health Care Dissemination and Implementation Research: Translating Science into Practice. New York: Oxford University Press, Inc. Registered nurses (RNs) care for patients through validated interventions. Through a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, nurses learn about evidence-based practice (EBP) that helps them find care strategies that can help their patients. EbP has become an important part of exceptional patient care in recent decades. The study of the acceptance of evidence-based practice is one of the areas that has profoundly influenced the paradigm shift and is woven into each of the other fields. The survey on the adoption of ebp corresponds to the survey on Star Point 4 (integration of EBP into practice). Several notable federal grant programs have evolved to promote research that forms the evidence base for effective strategies in the use of EBP. New research initiatives include the Clinical Translational Science Awards and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Grants.
