Graduate Research Supervision Agreement

by on 21.02.2022 in

Applicants and supervisors should discuss how they intend to conduct their research partnership and the expectations each party has of the project, resources and each other, and document in the agreement the decisions they make in this regard. Topics included in the supervision agreement include: Good supervision is based on open communication between supervisors and the candidate. At the beginning of the project, it is important that all parties are aware of their expectations of each other. These expectations are discussed as part of the “Student-Supervisor Agreement”, which must be made at the beginning of the application, and a copy of the agreement must be uploaded to eVision as part of the initial progress report process. The monitoring agreement should be regularly reviewed and amended as things change. Be sure to review the agreement between the student and the supervisor from time to time. It is important that the agreement is not forgotten and that you and your supervisor stay on track. The agreement can be adjusted later, but try not to make any significant changes. Research support agreements between supervisors and research students are a mandatory requirement of the University Research Committee. All HDR applicants must enter into a supervision agreement within the first four weeks of the start of their search.

To ensure that all HDR applicants have supervision agreements, all HDR applicants must have submitted a supervision agreement before the university confirms their application. The Research Oversight Agreement can be found in the “Getting Started” section of the HDR forms and policies website. All stakeholders should accept that the early stages of the work may lead to issues that need to be addressed constructively for the project to thrive. While academic issues are of paramount importance, students and caregivers should be prepared to speak openly about other topics that affect the applicant`s ability to progress with the PhD. . . .
